High Adventure Weekend

An exciting High Adventure Weekend:
Group initiatives, ropes course, designed to challenge the group, both as individuals and as members of a team. You will make new friends, accomplish challenges of mind/body/spirit, stretch your comfort zones, and discover unexpected things about yourselves and others.

Wizard of Oz

What do Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Wizard of Oz have to tell us about our lives? How do we leave home anyway? Who or what can help us on the journey? How do we meet the challenges along the way? We'll relive the Wizard of Oz and find the key that gets us "out of Kansas" and into life's adventures.

Medicine Wheel

The Native American Medicine Wheel is divided into four sections, each representing a direction: North, South, East, West. Each direction is represented by an animal, stage of life, and a life quality. The Medicine Wheel is a metaphor for life: physical/emotional/ spiritual growth, finding strengths within one's self, recognizing life as a cycle, and learning to be in relationship with the universe.

Vision Quest

The Vision Quest is a time alone in nature to find purpose and direction for one's life, a chance to receive personal messages from the natural world, and to return to share one's vision with others. Separate male and female rituals will help us celebrate and honor gender.

Celebration Dinner

A time to celebrate the accomplishments of the participants with family.

Optional Group Service Project

Volunteers will have an opportunity to participate in a service project working as Youth Volunteers to provide recreational and camping services to children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.

Facilitators are trained Unitarian Adults who attend all weekends and are responsible for all aspects of the program.
