Welcome to my bio page! I have a difficult time deciding what to include in a page like this, so forgive me if I ramble, seem disorganized, or bore you to tears.
After deciding a career in computer science was not for me, and also deciding that I needed to get away from the East Coast for a while, my spouse and I relocated to the Twin Cities area (Minnesota), where we have been for almost 9 years. Nowadays, understanding that our connections with one another matter and acknowledging the interdependent web of existence of which we are a part, my life pretty much revolves around my family (spouse, 2 daughters, 2 cats and a fish) and my vocation as a Unitarian Universalist minister.
I am the minister at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northfield, MN. I am also a Chaplain Resident at a Twin Cities hospital until mid 2008, when things become much more manageable and I look forward working towards a more balanced life.
I had the honor of winning the joint Commission on Social Witness/UU Ministers Association sermon award contest last year for my sermon "Standing at the Precipice." It was a thrilling experience to be able to deliver the sermon before Plenary at our General Assembly. If I can, I will find some pictures or video clips to post.
I am also the Director of Stonetree Congregational Resources.
Like most UUs, I was not raised in our tradition. I "converted" after college (James Madison University with a degree in Computer Science), when I was looking for a religious community that encouraged my spiritual growth but did not tell me what I had to believe. It was an instant and natural fit -- something described by many UU converts.
I think I will go ahead and end this here. I hope I struck a balance between telling you enough to be interesting and yet not being too dull!
