Due to my current settlement and responsibilities at the First Unitarian Church in Louisville, I am currently unable to provide pulpit supply at this time.
When we gather together on Sunday mornings, we look for so much: sanctuary, meaning,
understanding, a call to action, help, hope, comfort, love, acceptance. It is a tall order, and
one that a minister cannot fill all by herself. Instead, it is a team effort: music coordinators,
lay leaders, ushers, greeters, and more. Additionally, I believe that those who attend our
worship are also participants and co-creators of the experience.
This is one of the key differences between a Sunday worship service and a lecture. The
worship experience is grounded in a specific community, at a particular time and place, with
specific participants. It is this experience of being grounded in a religious community,
creating worship together, that brings the experience into the realm of the sacred.
I enjoy visiting UU congregations, and providing a Sunday program for a congregation gives me an excuse to do so! I have spoken at more than 35 congregations ranging from the very small to the very large. It is always a unique experience for me.
