Stuff for Seminarians

There are a lot of resources out on the web that are useful for UU seminarians. As is normal for the web, however, the problem lies in finding the sites.  What I have tried to do here is to create a list of web sites that UU seminarians might find helpful. If you know of any sites that should be added to this list, please contact me.

Additionally, I recommend you subscribe to the UUMINS2B mailing list hosted by the UUA. Information about this list is here. It is not a heavy volume list at all.

  • Beacon Press Sermon Award
    Open to any UU minister, lay leader, ministerial student or layperson, the award will be granted to a sermon that reflects upon the text of any book published by Beacon Press and currently in print. For submission guidelines, refer to Beacon's website, or contact Wendy Bivens, outreach coordinator, at wbivens@beacon.org.
  • The John Haynes Holmes Memorial Fellowship
    Each year the Community Church of New York awards Felloships to UU Students preparing for the ministry and needing financial assistance. A completed application must be received by April 1, 2002 for the 2002-2003 academic year. To obtain the appropriate application forms write to teh church and indicate that you are preparing for UU ministry, whether you are in seminary or will be beginning in September, and whether you have applied to the committee previously. Requests should be addressed to the John Haynes Holmes Memorial Fund Committee, The Community Church of New York, 40 East 35th Street, New York, NY 10016.
  • Thematic Preaching, An Introduction
